This guided Yoga Nidra practice is an invitation to rest deeply — without effort.
Through gentle verbal guidance, breath awareness, and imagery, you are supported to shift out of stress and into a state of conscious rest, where the nervous system can begin to regulate and restore itself.
Yoga Nidra is often described as “yogic sleep”, though the intention is to remain lightly aware while the body relaxes profoundly. If you do drift into sleep, that is perfectly ok too — it is simply your system taking what it needs.
This practice is for you if:
You feel overstimulated, overwhelmed, or emotionally depleted
You struggle to switch off, rest, or feel fully present
You want a gentle but powerful way to support stress relief and emotional regulation
You are curious about nervous-system-led wellbeing without forcing change
You want a practice that supports rest, recovery, and inner clarity
(Many people find that 30–45 minutes of Yoga Nidra can feel as restorative as several hours of sleep.)
What to expect
You’ll be guided through the traditional stages of Yoga Nidra, including:
intention setting (sankalpa)
breath awareness
body sensing
visualisation
This particular session is inspired by a peaceful lavender landscape and is accompanied by music composed specifically for this practice by Elaine.
Full instructions are included at the beginning of the recording, with the guided practice commencing at the 4-minute mark.
All you need to do is lie down comfortably and listen.
The science
Yoga Nidra supports the body in shifting from sympathetic “fight or flight” into parasympathetic “rest and restore”.
During the practice, brainwave activity naturally slows, allowing the mind and body to access deeper states of restoration while maintaining awareness.
