Hello! How's everyone?
I hope you have had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year when it comes!
I'd like to start with a MASSIVE thank you for supporting me and my music this past year. It's been an exciting and busy year creating my debut album, launching my first single and performing with some outstanding artists!
Over on Instagram I've been posting about some of the music events this year I am extremely grateful for, but here are my
Top 3 Musical Achievements of 2019:
1. DEBUT ALBUM
Working with Producer Findlay Napier and Engineer Paul Savage on this project, with the help of partial funding from Creative Scotland, has been a truly amazing experience. With the musicianship of Findlay himself on guitar (some lovely ear-candy right there), Iain Sloan (on soaring Pedal Steel and mean Electric Guitar), Patsy Reid (on majestic strings) and Euan Burton (on masterful Bass), I believe we have created something really special that I hope you will be able to connect with and enjoy. All of this wrapped nicely in the wonderful artwork of Kris Kesiak...I am so grateful...
The album has received some really lovely REVIEWS so far too:
"On first hearing I was hooked immediately." FATEA Magazine
"The record itself is majestic." Maverick Magazine
"Unless you knew the background, you wouldn’t know it was a debut album." Folking.com
"This is a stunning collection of material and will establish Elaine as a real force on the Scottish music scene in 2020." Country Music and Dance Magazine
The album will be the CELTIC MUSIC RADIO ALBUM OF THE WEEK from 4th of January!
My first ever single 'TROUBLE', taken from the album, has been really well received with plays on BBC, local and internet Radio. It placed #14 as a new entry on the 'Scottish New Music Global Chart' and is currently at #31 on Nashville's 'SheWolfRadio' chart!
'ONLY LOVE CAN BREAK YOUR HEART' was released this month and is also getting excellent airplay on BBC, International and Community Radio - It was Regal Radio's first ever 'Single of the Week'! Thanks to all those who have added it to your playlists! The B-side of this single - Instrumental of 'By Your Side' - has also been going down well and has been added to a few playlists as a stand alone song!
The LYRIC VIDEO is now up on my YOUTUBE CHANNEL!
Thank you to all who have streamed, downloaded, liked, shared, followed on Spotify/Apple Music, added to their playlists and given airplay to my songs, helping my music to reach a wider audience!
In my first full year of live performances, music has given me the opportunity to work with and meet some truly amazing and kind people, artists and music lovers alike!
Following Winning a coveted Danny Kyle Award at 2019 Celtic Connections, I have opened for Global artists including Danny Schmidt and William Michael Morgan, performed Double Headline shows with Grammy Winning Singer Songwriter Michael Logen and performed Songwriter's rounds with some amazing artists including Eric Paslay (writer of 5 US #1s), James Edwyn, Simon James, Martha Healy, Jason McNiff, The Remedy Club, Kevin McGuire and many others...
I've performed at festivals including Millport Country Music Festival, Country 2 Country and Glasgow Americana Festival and also (a dream come true for me) at Nashville's iconic Bluebird Cafe.
I even got to play a very special piano within a sacred circle on a very special stage...;)
I also got to use the lyrics of my song 'Little Bird Little Sailor' as a means of communicating a wider motivational message on the 'once in a lifetime platform' of a TEDx talk. This only backs up what I have always believed - that music connects us in ways that few other things in this world can...
3. ISSA FOLK ARTIST OF THE MONTH NOMINEE
It's amazing the global reach music has. With listeners from all over the world showing within the first month of launching my debut single, this wee Scottish curly-haired mum-of-two was humbled and honoured to have been nominated for the 'International Singer-Songwriter Association Folk Artist of the Month' for December 2019.
I am excited to say I am currently in third position too thanks to all the good folks who VOTED for me! Voting ends 31st December so if you haven't voted yet there is still time (one vote per day per device).
SO WHAT'S NEW FOR 2020?
